The following information will give us some parameters to begin the design process. Whether you’re building a new house or renovating an existing one, there are some basic things that need to be considered before you start.
Functionality
How can we maximize the bench space
Position of appliances e.g. dishwasher close to the sink, access to the fridge by the whole family so it doesn’t interfere with the flow of the kitchen, and a surface close to the oven for hot baking trays and dishes should all be considered
Position of cutlery and plates etc
Position of rubbish bin.
Durability
Are the products you want the kitchen made from going to stand up to the test of time and your lifestyle? There are a number of different materials that can be viewed in our showroom or online at some of the supplier’s websites.
Appearance
What style of kitchen do you like; use the internet and magazines to your advantage finding a style that works for you and your home.
Appliances
What brands do you like?
Electric, gas, convection
Stainless steel or white
Free standing or wall oven(s)
Budget
Set a budget for us to design to, it is far easier for us to design to a budget and make suggestions as to how to stay within it, it can save a lot of time.
Drawing a Plan of your Kitchen
A plan view is a view of your kitchen area as it would be seen from above, showing the wall positions, lengths, window and door positions, plumbing and electrical positions if remaining in the same place.
Draw the walls of the room on a sheet of graph paper, start at one point in the room and move around the perimeter listing each measurement as you go.
Once this is complete mark down the height of the ceiling in the middle of your plan and mark all switches and power points with a cross and note the height from the floor to the middle of the switch.
If you have a digital camera it is always helpful to have a selection of photos as a reference, take as many as you can to show as many different aspects of the room as possible.
